Carpal tunnel syndrome causes pain, tingling, and numbness in your hand from pressure on the median nerve in your wrist. In many cases, we can treat carpel tunnel without surgery, but in some cases surgery is necessary if:
- Symptoms have not improved after several weeks of non-surgical treatment
- Persistent loss of coordination and/or feeling in the hand or fingers
- Decreased strength in the hand
- Risk of damage to the median nerve
Carpal Tunnel Release is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that takes less than 10 minutes to perform and results in decompression of the median nerve and resolution of symptoms from carpal tunnel syndrome. This procedure can be performed endoscopically or using a mini-open technique with excellent long-term results.
